We travel from Kent into Surrey to locate buried LV and 11kV cable faults and, where the cable can be worked on, repair them ourselves.
Phones answered Mon–Fri, 8am–4pm. Out-of-hours by arrangement.
UK Power Networks covers much of Surrey as part of its South Eastern network. Other parts of the county are on the SSEN (Southern Electric) network. We do not need to be the network operator to test a private or site cable, but it helps to know whose network is in the footway before anyone excavates.
The drive from Kent is commonly around the M25. Commuter towns, business parks and longer rural feeds in the green belt all appear as enquiries. We still want the postcode, the voltage and whether the terminations can be opened before we agree the visit.
Route tracing uses our CAT and Genny. Pre-location uses the Lexxi T1660 TDR where the fault will show at low voltage. High-resistance 11kV faults are a different test and may need hired surge and acoustic equipment, agreed first.
UK Power Networks covers much of Surrey. SSEN covers parts of the west of the county. Tell us the postcode and we will treat the journey from Kent on its own facts.
The enquiry is the same as in Kent: find the fault on the buried cable, then repair it with R&D’s own jointers if the site is safe to joint.
Send the voltage, the postcode and what you know so far. We’ll call you back during phone hours.
